uncover deep rest at Peninsula Hot Springs’ new eco lodges

Written by Amelia

imagine having access to your own private hot spring, where you can soak under the stars before slipping into a luxury king-sized bed just a few steps away

After years in the making, we are pleased to unveil the next phase in our accommodation offering with a trio of rest-focused Eco Lodges, each with its own hot spring and outdoor mineral baths.

Thoughtfully designed as a sanctuary for sleep and restoration, the Eco Lodges inspire deep rest with a seasonal menu of sleep-conducive foods; immersive sound; minimal blue light; an in-room sleep guide with Signature Sleep Ritual; and the option to enhance with spa packages focused on inducing slumber.

Charles Davidson, Peninsula Hot Springs Group Co-founder and Creative Director, says the introduction of the rest-centred accommodation is a natural evolution after years of research and anecdotal reports on the sleep benefits of hot springs bathing.

We have long observed the connection between bathing and a good night’s rest, and we’ve now established a way to deepen that connection. We all know the transformative power of quality sleep, but our sense is that modern humans aren’t resting enough – let alone resting well. With a focus on nature immersion, geothermal bathing and a profoundly relaxing environment, the Eco Lodges allow guests to rest well.

sleep & breathe as if it's a ritual...

Studies tell us the key ingredients for quality sleep are dim, ambient lighting, minimal technological distraction and taking time to unwind in the hour or two before bed, as well as a neutral room temperature and dark room when falling asleep.

“All of these elements are present in the Eco Lodges,” says Dr Marc Cohen, Peninsula Hot Springs Medical Director. “Plus, the Eco Lodges private geothermal mineral baths allow you to have a warm bath before bed, which helps improve your circulation while also relaxing your muscles and calming your mind. Going to bed with warm feet also promotes a drop in your core body temperature, which is a natural signal to your body that it's time to fall asleep.

“Research shows when you sleep well you have greater resilience and ability to cope with life stress or illness and any other health improvement strategies or treatments are amplified. Sleeping well means falling asleep easily and effortlessly, sleeping restfully all night, and waking feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.”

considered design

Each consciously crafted Eco Lodge comprises several private rooms that include bespoke amenities such as ensuites, walk-in robes, king-sized beds (or king singles), split-system heating and cooling, room service, and underfloor heating powered by geothermal water.

Guests can experience the restorative effect of nature as they relax in their rooms and enjoy views of the wetland, or in the case of the Peninsula Suite, their own private hot spring. All rooms are appointed with elements inspired by our surrounding coastal environment. Timber bedheads and dining tables come from local makers, while the walls are adorned with original artwork from Mornington Peninsula artists.

The Eco Lodges were built using natural timber throughout with waste reduction and recycling practices, including a GluLam Line (GLL) machine that turns timber off-cuts into useful beams.

As part of our commitment to sustainability, the bulk of our Eco Lodge interiors are sourced from Melbourne businesses Coco Flip and Robert Gordon. The rooms also feature wool carpet, zero-VOC paint and hydronic heating.

experience the eco lodges for yourself

Given their seclusion and multi-room layout, the Eco Lodges are ideal for groups interested in connecting while immersed in nature — from family getaways to corporate and wellness retreats. Two of the lodges are three-bedroom; the third lodge has four bedrooms.

And, to ensure each guest has access to private bathing, one room in each Eco Lodge includes a private hot spring, while the other rooms enjoy outdoor baths filled with geothermal water. Eco Lodge guests will be able to bathe morning and night while remaining in the comfort of their accommodation.

There are three options for booking Eco Lodges.

Firstly, our Eco Lodge & Bathe package involves all-of-site bathing, buffet breakfast, a wellness activity of your choice and accommodation in a Springs Room (which features an outdoor private bath) or Peninsula Suite (which features an outdoor private hot spring).

Meanwhile, the Eco Lodge, Dine & Bathe package includes all-of-site bathing, buffet breakfast, a wellness activity of your choice, accommodation in a Springs Room or Peninsula Suite, as well as dinner in our Spa Dreaming Centre dining room.

Or, to book an entire Eco Lodge, we invite you to contact our Groups team on (03) 5950 8712 to discuss pricing and enhancement opportunities.
